Great arcs of paint cover the canvas, apparently at random, to produce a highly textured, intense and energetic abstract plane.  He would throw and fling the paint, using sticks, brushes and knives, onto an unstretched canvas, which had been tacked to a hard wall or floor.  This enabled him to walk around the canvas and allowed him to become the gestures of the painting. 

Pollock’s is the most renowned of the American Abstract Expressionist.  His highly innovative technique became know as Action Painting.  Such radical elements as the abandonment of the easel painting and the lack of traditional perspective made his style technique a landmark on international art scene.

His works may seem chaotic and random.  His methods were to some extent controlled and systematic.  Pollock place an emphasis on the process behind the painting, embedding his energetic style and freedom of self-expression into his artwork.
